You can help obtain food to children in require this week, and maybe even have fun simultaneously.

In honor of Entire world Food Day, which raises understanding every Oct. 16 about worldwide hunger and the fight to end this, Google Play is joining forces using the World Food Programme (WFP), the meals assistance branch of the United Nations.

Through Google Play’s first-ever “charity collection” of 12 featured applications and games, 100 percent associated with Android users’ designated in-app buys will be donated to World Meals Program USA through Saturday, April. 21. The apps include Jurassic World: The Game, Dragon City, Cooking Fever, and WFP’s personal hunger-fighting app, ShareTheMeal.

“I believe innovation is at the heart of making a world with zero hunger. “

Most of the charitable in-app buys are relevant to the issue and concept of global hunger. For example , within Jurassic World, you can buy new foods resources, and in Dragon City, you can purchase extra food to feed your own dragons. The idea seems to tap into applications and games that already have foods components, and leverage them for the higher purpose.

“I think innovation is at the heart of creating a global with zero hunger, ” mentioned Massimiliano Costa, head of WFP’s ShareTheMeal initiative, in a statement regarding the partnership with Google Play.

“Without thinking big, we cannot reach this goal. This is why it is very important use technology for good â€? stimulating communities around the world to step up plus aim to reach a world without food cravings, ” he said.

The theme of Entire world Food Day is #ZeroHunger, which one of the U. N. Sustainable Growth Goals (also known as the Global Goals) that provide a blueprint to improve the entire world by the year 2030. Goal two is to “end hunger, achieve foods security and improved nutrition, plus promote sustainable agriculture. “

While hunger has been in decline for the past 10 years, it’s on the rise again: 815 million people (about 11 % of the global population) were impacted by hunger in 2016. That’s 38 million more than 2015, largely because of conflicts and climate change.

In a blog post Monday early morning, Google Play Partner Development Supervisor Maxim Mai said the relationship with WFP aims to deal with this issue head-on. The goal, Mai said, is “to promote understanding and action for those who suffer from food cravings and to advocate for food protection and nutritious diets for all. “
