Twitter is adding a new feature to assist users figure out what’s “happening at this point. “
The company introduced a brand new feature today that will highlight sports activities games, breaking news, and other subjects at the top of its users’ timelines. Â
The feature, which is now moving out now to Twitter’s apps, places a carousel of events towards the top of your feed. Twitter says the particular “happening now” events will be individualized to each user based on their particular interests and what types of accounts they will follow.
The company states for now the plan is to focus on sports activities, with football, baseball, soccer, handbags, and basketball updates, but various other topics will be added in the future. Â
Tapping into one of the games within the “happening now” section is a lot like scuba diving into a trending topic on Tweets. It surfaces tweets related to the big event, as well as real-time game scores, that are pinned to the top of the feed. Â
In a tweet, Twitter’s VP of Product Keith Coleman mentioned the company was “just scratching the particular surface” with the new feature intended for sports scores. Â
Say hello to 🏆 Happening Today â? a new and simple method to follow a game on Twitter. Having a live scoreboard & live schedule one tap away, itâs transformed the way I watch games (whether at a 📺 or not). The company confirmed the particular feature will start with sports plus expand to breaking news, enjoyment, and other topics over the next couple weeks.
The update is just the most recent way Twitter has sought in order to draw in sports fans by putting an emphasis on live coverage. In August, the organization cut a deal with digital sports activities network Stadium for its round-the-clock university sports coverage. Twitter has also performed host to live streams of Thursday-night NFL games and MLB online games.
By now showcasing expert sports front and center in the app, the company is further duplicity down on its efforts to make Tweets the destination for sports fans.
