LAS VEGAS â? The Democratic National Committee upon Friday rejected a resolution that would possess urged independents such as Sen. Bernie SandersÂ of Vermont to âregister or affiliate with the Democratic Partyâ the coming year, one of several small victories for the partyâs left wing.
âThis puts salt in a wound that we need to be closing right now,â mentioned James Zogby, the outgoing leader of the DNCâs resolutions committee, since theÂ measure was debated in an early morning meeting. âThe consequences would feed a Twitter debate that will not be helpful to any of us right now.â
The resolution, released by three DNC members through California, attracted attention this week as you more skirmish between those who backed Hillary Clinton during the 2016 Democratic presidential primary and those who backed Sanders. Bob Mulholland, the DNC member who pitched the quality to the committee, argued that Democrats were losing potential votes simply by letting progressive voters work away from party.
