Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., has a simple piece of advice with regard to President Trump.

“Stop tweeting,” McCain stated in an interview with NBC’s Ben Brokaw that aired on Thurs.

Trump has long used the social media marketing platform to criticize the mass media and attack a myriad of targets that include lawmakers within his own celebration like McCain.

“I think I would also say, ’Look, there’s no reason to attack Republicans,’” McCain additional. “We’ve got enough people who attack them.”

McCain’s advice for the president would appear to mirror remarks made by previous first lady Michelle Obama upon Wednesday in Chicago.

“You don’t tweet every thought,” the lady said in what seemed to be a refined dig at Trump. “Most of your initial thoughts aren’t worthy of the light of day.”

She additional: “I’m not talking about anybody in particular, I’m talking about us all.”

Her comments came hours right after Trump lashed out at Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N. Y., recommending he was responsible for protecting the particular U. S. visa program considered used by the suspect in Tuesday’s Manhattan terror attack.

“The president ought to stop tweeting and start leading,” Schumer said in response. “The American people long for leadership not divisiveness not finger pointing not name calling. This is a tragedy, it’s less than a day after it occurred and he can’t refrain from his nasty divisive habits.”

It’s a freewheeling and controversial habit that would appear hard to break, particularly for a chief executive who seems obsessed with the media’s coverage of his presidency. This individual uses Twitter to lash away at both that coverage plus a range of foes â€? real plus self-perceived.

“When somebody says something about me, I am able to go bing, bing, bing and I take care of it,” Trump told Sibel Business host Maria Bartiromo final month. “The other way, I would never be get the word out.”

Trump also marveled in the power of social media and what this individual sees as his mastery from the tweet.

“They are well crafted,” the president stated. “I was always good student. I am like a person that does well with that kind of thing. And I doubt I would be here if weren’t for social media, to be honest with you.”
