Samsung files a patent for its wireless charging mat technology

Samsung is following Apple deeper in to the wireless charging mat game.

The site Patently Apple discovered Samsung’s plans filed with the Oughout. S. Patent and Trademark Workplace. The patent application shows the mat similar to Apple’s forthcoming AirPower technology, which Apple says will end up available sometime in 2018.

Samsung already offers wireless getting technologies (one is pictured above), but they can only charge one gadget at a time.

A brand new Samsung patent shows a wireless getting mat capable of charging multiple products at once.

If realized, it appears that Samsung’s wireless charging mat will be able to cost two devices at once, such as 2 phones or a phone and a smartwatch. The patent explains that Samsung’s wireless mat will detect the kind of device placed on the mat and determine the correct charging method to deliver power to the device.

Samsung’s obvious shows it will employ two wi-fi charging techniques: One is the typical kind of wireless charging accomplished through a procedure called “magnetic induction, ” which usually uses magnetism (as opposed to the connected wire) to send power right into a phone. Samsung’s patent also states it will employ a similar charging procedure called “magnetic resonance, ” that allows the charging of multiple products from a single charging pad. These types of charging methods fall under the ever more popular “Qi” standard in wireless getting, which you might see labeled with public places like airports plus Starbucks.

It’s not however time to ditch your charging wires, but it’s clear that wi-fi charging is now the future of charging. Samsung’s latest Galaxy phones, such as the S7 and S6, have wireless getting capability, as do Apple’s iPhone almost eight models and the soon-to-arrive iPhone By.
