Shazam’s obtained new competition.

You’ll shortly be able to identify almost any song which playing near you with Google Assistant’s music recognition software.

The feature was released one month ago, unfortunately he limited only to Google’s Pixel mobile phones.

Now, it’s being folded out to Android devices that have Search engines Assistant enabled.

After keeping down on the home button to induce Assistant, simply ask it: “What song is this? ” and it response with the title, artist and brief excerpt of the lyrics.

The info card also consists of links to YouTube and Search engines Play Music, and a link to search for the particular song on Google.

The function doesn’t appear to have rolled away across all countries yet, even though people in Canada, UK, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines and Sydney have said that the feature can be obtained for them.

Google’s software continues to be able to identify music for a while, even though this rollout will see it be pervasive across Android devices.

The company had in 2015 built the same functionality into voice-based Google Now, which it’s right now trying to replace with Assistant.

Apple had earlier teamed up along with Shazam in 2014 to energy its song recognition software intended for Siri. It’s not clear if Search engines has built the capability itself, or if this relies on a third party.
