How to make Google's Active Edge do anything you want

You probably know you can squeeze the sides of the Pixel 2 to activate Search engines Assistant.  

It turns out this feature, Active Edge, can be set up to activate any function you are longing.  

The process, which was pieced together by an ambitious XDA forum developer, is incredibly complex. It doesn’t technically change the function associated with Active Edge; it just can make your phone do something else in order to senses that Google Assistant is all about to pop up.  

Here’s tips on how to do it: You’ll need your computer, an UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS connector, and a good chunk of your time.  

1. Download the application Switch Mapper from Google Play, plus open it.

2. At the bottom of your screen, you will see an option to enable Button Mapper’s availability service. Do so.

3. You’ll be redirected to the Button Mapper app. Faucet Buttons > Active Edge > Customize. You’ll be prompted for connecting your phone to a computer plus run a script.

4. Go to Settings > System > About Phone. Tap Build Number seven times. You’ll certainly be informed that you are now a programmer. Congratulations!

5. Place back into System > Developer Choices, which is now a thing you can gain access to. Enable USB Debugging.

6. Here’s exactly where it gets tricky. You now have to install Android Debug Bridge on your pc. Download the appropriate ADB file for Mac pc, Windows, or Linux.  

7. Open the Terminal and get into “cd /path/to/extracted/folder” without the quotation represents, plugging in the location of the file you just downloaded.

8. Plug your phone into your pc. Swipe down from the top of the screen to change your UBS link with “File Transfer. “

9. Head back to the Fatal. Execute “adb devices”, and allow UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS debugging when prompted. Then, operate the following command: “adb shell you will need /data/data/flar2. homebutton/keyevent. sh”.  

10. On your phone, when prompted, reboot Button Mapper.  

11. Whenever Button Mapper re-opens, select Customize, and choose the feature you want.  

If you’ve made it this particular far, congratulations! You’ve now changed that annoying Assistant with some thing more useful.
