There’s an easter ovum hidden in plain sight within Super Mario Odyssey and it has several fans theorizing about potential brand new content coming to the game.
Hint Toad appears in every single empire in Super Mario Odyssey to assist Mario find power moons (for a price), and he’s usually holding a map of exactly what most would assume is that present kingdom. Twitter user Frying_Pants remarked that it’s actually a map of a degree in Super Mario 64, the very first 3D Super Mario game through 1996.
The level can be Bob-omb Battlefield, the first level Mario ventures into from Princess Peach’s castle and probably the most recognizable degree from Super Mario 64.
Here’s another angle of the chart that Hint Toad is always taking a look at:
You can see the particular mountain on the left where Mario fights his first boss fight against Big Bob-omb, the stone portion to the right of it in which the Chain Chomp is, and the grime patch that stretches through the core level.
The map can also be partially visible inside the Odyssey deliver itself.
This is an enjoyable little reference to the 3D Extremely Mario game that started everything, but some fans on Reddit believe (and hope) that it’s more than just the reference. They want Bob-omb Battlefield being an addition to the game in the form of downloadable content material (DLC).
Some Super Mario Odyssey fans extrapolated this concept, mapping out a lineup associated with DLCs that would bring in additional kingdoms from even more 3D Super Mario games.
That would be lots of DLC, especially considering that no main-line Super Mario has ever had DLC. Then again, neither had the Tale of Zelda series until Breath of the Wild revealed two DLC packs, one of which is still to come.
We can continue to dream.
