President Trump onÂ Friday sought to diminish the importance of theÂ campaign international policy meetingÂ whereÂ former adviserÂ George Papadopoulos attempted to brokerÂ connections between Russians and the Trump campaign, with the president claiming thatÂ he did not remember what was said.
The meeting, which took place within Washington on March 31, 2016, included a team of international policy advisers as well as Trump plus then-Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala. ), who is now the attorney common. The session has become a key concentrate of special counsel Robert Ersus. Mueller III’s wide-ranging investigation associated with Russia’s interference in the election plus possible coordination with the Trump marketing campaign.
Mueller’s office revealed immediately in court documents that Papadopoulos pleaded guilty on Oct. 5 in order to lying to the FBI about endeavoring to meet with Russians offering âdirtâ upon Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton based on stolen Democratic emails.

âIt was a very unimportant meeting,â Trump said. âIt took place a long time ago. Don’t remember much about it.â
In the meeting, according to court papers, Papadopoulos touted his connections in order to Russia in front of Trump and Classes and offered to arrange a meeting among Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
