President Trump is refusing in order to clarify his false claim that previous presidents George W. Bush plus Barack Obama did not call all the families of fallen U. S. troops.
âThereâs nothing to clarify,â Trump said in a Sibel News Radio interview on Wednesday. âI think Iâve called every family of somebody thatâs died, and itâs the hardest call to make. And I said it very loud and clear yesterday. The hardest thing for me to do is do that. Now, as far as other representatives, I donât know. I mean, you could ask Gen. Kelly did he get a call from Obama. You could ask other people. I donât know what Obamaâs policy was. I write letters, and I also call.â
Kellyâs son, Marine 1st Luxury touring. Robert Michael Kelly, died whilst serving in Afghanistan in 2010. John Kelly, a retired Sea general, is the highest-ranking military official to lose a child in combat within Iraq or Afghanistan.
Trump stated he believes he has called every single grieving military family during their first nine months in workplace.
âI have called â I believe â everybody, but certainly Iâll use the word virtually everybody,â Trump said. âI donât know what Bush did; I donât know what Obama did. You could find out easily what President Obama did. All you have to do is ask the military people, but I believe his policy was somewhat different than my policy.â
The president sparked a fury associated with criticism during a press conference within the White House Rose Garden upon Monday when he was requested whether he had made contact with the particular families of four soldiers killed within an Oct. 4 ambush in Niger. Trump said that he had written words and planned to call all of them â? suggesting his predecessors failed to do both.
âIf you look at President Obama and other presidents, most of them didnât make calls,â Trump stated. âI like to call when itâs appropriate, when I think Iâm able to do it.â
Later, when pressed, Trump stated he wasnât sure what Obama did.
âI was told that he didnât often, and a lot of presidents donât. They write letters,â Trump said. âPresident Obama, I think, probably did sometimes, and maybe sometimes he didnât. I donât know. Thatâs what I was told. ⦠Some presidents didnât do anything.â
Trumpâs Rose Garden remarks were fulfilled byâºâºâºâºâºâºâºâºâºâ? immediate backlash from previous top Obama officials.
âThatâs a f***ing lie,â Alyssa Mastromonaco, Obamaâs former deputy key of staff, wrote on Tweets. âHeâs a deranged animal.â

âStop the damn lying â youâre the President,â Eric Holder, Obamaâs attorney general, tweeted. âI went to Dover AFB with 44 and saw him comfort the families of both the fallen military & DEA.â

On Monday, White House press admin Sarah Sanders insisted that Trump wasnât lying but âstating a fact.â
âSometimes they call, sometimes they send a letter; other times they have the opportunity to meet family members in person,â Sanders said.
âPresident Trumpâs claim is wrong,â a former Obama White-colored House official said in a declaration to Yahoo News. âPresident Obama engaged families of the fallen and wounded warriors throughout his presidency through calls, letters, visits to Section 60 at Arlington, visits to Walter Reed, visits to Dover, and regular meetings with Gold Star Families at the White House and across the country.â
âThis is an outrageous and disrespectful lie even by Trump standards,â Bill Rhodes, Obamaâs foreign policy agent, tweeted.
Following his latest comments, Delilia OâMalley, whose brother had been killed while serving in the Iraq War, also tweeted her outrage.
ââWhen my brother was killed, Pres Bush listened while I screamed at him & then held me as I sobbed, you fat f***ing liar.â
