Twitter CEO Dorsey promises more aggressive posting rules

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey took to…Twitter right now to promise a “more aggressive” stance in its guidelines and the way it enforces them. The tweet storm was primarily based in a response to the #WomenBoycottTwitter protest, in addition to work that Dorsey says Twitter has been working ‘intensely’ on over the previous few months. Dorsey says that important choices had been made right now in the way to go about stopping the rampant and cruel harassment many ladies, minorities and different customers bear day by day on the platform.

“We decided to take a more aggressive stance in our rules and how we enforce them,” Dorsey says. “New rules around: unwanted sexual advances, non-consensual nudity, hate symbols, violent groups, and tweets that glorifies violence. These changes will start rolling out in the next few weeks. More to share next week.”

We’ll communicate with Twitter to see what the rule adjustments may be.

Right here’s what Jack stated on Twitter:

We see voices being silenced on Twitter on daily basis. We’ve been working to counteract this for the previous 2 years. We prioritized this in 2016. We up to date our insurance policies and elevated the dimensions of our groups. It wasn’t sufficient.

In 2017 we made it our prime precedence and made a whole lot of progress. Right now we noticed voices silencing themselves and voices talking out as a result of we’re *nonetheless* not doing sufficient.

We’ve been working intensely over the previous few months and centered right now on making some important choices. We determined to take a extra aggressive stance in our guidelines and the way we implement them. New guidelines round: undesirable sexual advances, non-consensual nudity, hate symbols, violent teams, and tweets that glorifies violence. These adjustments will begin rolling out within the subsequent few weeks. Extra to share subsequent week.

The very first response, in fact?
