“Wow, FBI confirms report that James Comey drafted letter exonerating Crooked Hillary Clinton long before investigation was complete. Many people not interviewed, including Clinton herself. Comey stated under oath that he didn’t do this-obviously a fix? Where is Justice Dept?”
President Trump, in tweets, April. 18, 2017

In a pair of twitter posts, President Trump essentially called for the Justice Department investigation of previous FBI director James B. Comey, whom he fired in May. This individual suggested Comey misled Congress below oath about his decision-making upon whether to charge former admin of state Hillary Clinton more than her use of a private email machine for official government communications.

As evidence for the president’s declare, a White House official directed to a specific statement that Comey made during a hearing before the Home Judiciary Committee on Sept. 28, 2016. When the former FBI movie director testified before Congress earlier this year, this individual told his side of the tale, outlining his reasoning behind their unusual public announcement of their decision not to charge Clinton.

As a reader service, on this video, The Fact Checker put their statements about the case in framework with a timeline of the surrounding activities. There is no way to know exactly what Comey has been thinking. It is clear, however , which he had weighed making a public declaration weeks before he interviewed Clinton as part of the investigation. Whether he had chose the outcome ahead of Clinton’s interview is just not clear.
